Creating an account
|
In order to shop online at Gem Jewellery you will need to create an account with us so that you may track your order and we are able to communicate with you. By default your email address that you give us will be used as your username.
To create an account you can click on the "create an account" link in the top right corner of every page. You must enter your personal details on the "My Account Information" page, mandatory information is indicated in yellow and the word "required".
You should enter your password twice to verify that you have typed it correctly, your password should be something that you
will remember but others will not be able to guess easily. When you have completed the form click the "Continue" button at the
bottom of the page. An email will be sent to the email address which you supplied verifying the creation of your account with us
and welcoming you to Gem Jewellery.
You will now be logged into the store and any items that you have already put into your electronic shopping cart as a guest user
will be merged with your new account. Even if you do not complete your order (checkout) during this session, the items which you
have put into your shopping cart will still be there next time you log in.

Managing your account

To manage you account you must first be logged in, you can tell if you are logged in by looking at the top right corner of the screen.
Under the "My Account", "Shopping Cart" and "Checkout" links you will see the message "Welcome back (...your name)". Click on
the "My Account" link, if you were already logged in you will go directly to the "My Account Information" page. You can preview your
account information and and manage your account using the buttons at the bottom of the page :

Address Book : Here you can enter the names and addresses of people you want to send orders from Gem Jewellery to if you want to send them a gift. You can select people from your address book during the checkout process.

Order History : If you have shopped online with us before you can view your order history and review your order status.

Notifications : If during your shopping you asked to be notified about a particular product, that is if it was out of stock or is now at a special discount you can be notified of this, you can switch this facility on or off here.

Edit Account : Change your account details.
F.A.Q. :
"I have forgotten my password, what do I do?"
Click on "My account". At the log in page enter your email address in the email box and click on the "Password forgotten? Click here." link. A new password will be emailed to you so you can enter it on the login page to log yourself in. Don't forget to
then edit your account with a new password that you can remember.
"Can I purchase items from Gem Jewellery without creating an account?"
No. Not on the website but you can call us and place an order with us over the phone. To make sure we know what you want just
make a note of the product numbers on the website.
"Can I purchase items from Gem Jewellery if I don't have an email address?"
Yes you can. Either place your order by phone or when you create your account enter an email address of yourfullnameasoneword@gemjewellery.co.uk, this will become your login when you return to Gem Jewellery. You will then be able to review the status of your order by logging onto the website and reviewing your order history from the "My Account Information" page
(see above).
"I am a wholesaler/retailer, can I shop at Gem Jewellery online at trade?"
Yes you can. Once you have created your account simply send us an email requesting your account be upgraded to a trade account using the "contact us" page detailing your username (that would be your email address) and the name of your business. We will then send you our our terms and conditions for traders and modify your account type for you to continue shopping online.

Navigating the site
|
Products can be viewed in a number of ways on Gem Jewellery. The easiest way is to use the navigation bar at the left of every page to display the category which you are interested in. Simply click on the link and you will be shown the first twelve items in that category. At the top of this listing you will see one or more drop-down menus (if applicable) pre-fixed with the word "Show". This will filter your current view of items by the chosen criteria, e.g. filter by Gemstone, Category or Setting.
Below the filter drop-down menus you will see a summary of the number of items in your current view and page navigation links. Under those you will see a shaded area titled "Sort Results By:" which allow you to sort your view by name or by price as you browse.
To assist you with your navigation there is a dynamic breadcrumb trail link at the very top of every page, just below the company logo, which you can use to take yourself up a level or two if you become lost.
